Business Partner Appreciation Post

Here comes a good ol’ soppy appreciation post for my friend, and business partner, Carl. (Insert smiley face here).

I’ve known Carl for almost seven years and from the moment we met we started firing ideas off each other. The first to land was a talent show!

Within a couple of weeks Carl had invited me to work along side him with Big Star Events to put on Gateway’s Got Talent back in 2017. We both teamed up to organise the acts and locations. During the big shows, Carl would host and I was a judge!

Then onto producing shows for Britain’s Got Talent. We arranged for several acts to perform for pre-TV auditions and helped the executives find the talent that deserved to get to the live shows.

Another talent show we worked on was Hungry Horse’s Horse Factor singing competition. Again, Carl hosted and I judged. This time it was just singers and the talent was extraordinary! Two of our local applicants went straight to the semi-finals, with one making it all the way to the very end.

All-in-all, these were very exciting events that helped local talent get discovered. An ambition in the future would be to produce, host, and judge more of these shows.

After helping local talent make it to the next stage of their performing careers we set out on a new project.

With my background in process management and Carl’s extensive hosting background (over a decade as a DJ!) we decided to offer an easy solution to venues across the UK to create quizzing communities. And, poof!, Quiz Live was born.

Our passion drives the company and allows us to use all of our experience and expertise to create positive and meaningful events every week in pubs across the UK. And, it’s all in one neat little package so it’s easy to launch and maintain in any venue.

Daimo & Carl

While growing our business and supporting both national and local fundraisers we had a little bit of attention from the press,

BlogPreston reached out to spread the word about our free virtual interactive quizzes during the second lockdown.

We both decided to offer a free midweek online quiz to keep people entertained in their homes, and this allowed anyone to join our growing inclusive community.

Many groups of families and friends told us first-hand how much they appreciated the opportunities we had created while putting the show together.

Another instance of our press attention came from Lancashire Post.

At the time of our interview, we had just finished raising around £40,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support – all through our online event formula.

Quiz Live, along with Hungry Horse, invited players, old and new, to join us for one-off virtual quiz specials that included extra entertainment. Extras included minigames like The Crisp Pack Challenge, an online charity auction, and special guest appearances like our celebrity friend Black Lace’s Dene Michael.

Everyone had a great time during the events and we loved being able to produce entertaining shows while generating so much for such a worthy cause.

After a very short time, we have grown so fast. We are proud to be able to host entertainment to so many, give our hosts extra income, and build lasting communities that are open and welcoming to everyone.
